On this Canada Day Weekend I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to all of our Staff and Volunteers who make this such a great Community.
2017 has been a challenging year with unprecedented flooding and rainfall. It is the second time in 5 years that we have 100 year flooding. This has hampered and delayed many projects and it has also put severe pressure on our road maintenance teams. The team has stepped up and has worked very hard to make sure that the roads are in good condition. The challenges do not stop as every week we continue to have a huge amounts of rain. The public works team continues to work very hard each day and I want to thank them for their perseverance in the face of adversity.
As I have driven through all of our villages our staff and the volunteers from every village group should be very proud of the work they have accomplished. Our Township looks welcome and inviting to all! A special recognition to all of the staff and volunteers who fought the weather and prepared Seeleys Bay for the biggest celebration in the Township. I was honoured to be part of the festivities. The Paddle Contest really showcases the amazing talent we have in this region.
Despite some adversity and major weather challenges our staff under the leadership of our CAO Greg Borduas have accomplished many great things. The delays mean there is still a significant amount of work to be accomplished in 2017 and beyond, but I am confident that in the true spirit of hard work that defines us as Canadians; Our Staff and Volunteers will embrace the challenge and the Sesquicentennial year of 2017 will see many accomplishments. Happy Canada 150 to everyone !
